What is a good work-around for wireless internet loss due to cordless phone interference?

I've got my apartment set up with a wireless network that feeds 4 computers. At times, the phone will ring and either 1) knock all computers off the net without someone answering the phone or 2) knock everyone off the net once the phone has been answered. Usually once knocked off the net, the wireless router needs to be reset. I've used two different brands of routers with the same network loss results. Any ideas? (aside from systematically removing cordless phones from the house and replacing them with new ones)

What’s the furthest I should put a cordless phone from a wireless router?

I have a cordless phone about 5 inches away from my wireless router. I know that they say not to put phones close to wireless routers because of the interference you may experience. However I am still getting a fast connection with the wireless network. What can be some problems you would see by having a phone too close to a router? Sometimes I will get a real slow connection, but all I have to do is restart my modem and the connection is back up to full speed. Also I am having Strict NAT setting problems on my 360. Can any of these be caused from the phone being too close?

How can I stop my cordless phone from interfering with my wireless router?

I have 2.4 ghz spread spectrum cordless phone that autoselects the clearest channel everytime you use the phone and there is no way to change the channel manually. I also have a linksys 2.4 ghz wireless router. Using the cordless phone renders my wifi useless 9 times out of 10. I have tried to change the routers wireless channel (possible values are 1-11 I think) but that did not solve the problem. Does anyone know what I can do to prevent this interference?
