Which Frequency is Best?
Users in the market for a cordless phone have several frequencies from which to choose. 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz, and 5.8 GHz are the choices available to consumers. As the frequencies increase, the signal clarity gets better, and the range increases.
900 MHz phones were very popular for a long time, but are more rare now with the higher frequencies available. However, they’re adequate for most users, and have the advantage of low price.
2.4 GHz models are also common, and offer better sound quality and greater range than 900 MHz phones. 2.4 GHz phones allow a user to walk much further away from the base station before experiencing any disruption.
5.8 GHz phone models offer the best quality sound and security, with limited interference. 5.8 GHz have a significant range advantage over 900 MHz models, offering up to 20 times greater range. It also has about twice the range of 2.4 GHz models, so naturally, it is priced the highest.
